This set of projects is modeled after the MTV show, "Road Rules".  Students will gain an understanding of background information through readings in the textbook and discussions in class.  Then, following the text, they will explore the two regions of Africa: West Africa and North Africa.

During the students' exploration, they will learn about each region and complete a challenge that allows them to apply the knowledge that they've gained.

Students will spend a week reading and discussing the history and culture of Africa and then nearly a week to complete each challenge.  The entire unit should take a little over four weeks.  Students will work in pairs or groups of three.
